Biography
Mara Paletti was born on 31 October 1975 in Milan, where she still lives today. Even as a child she felt a particular pull toward everything that today might be called artistic: she loved nothing more than colouring in those beautiful black-and-white albums, and seeing them finished, full of colour, was pure joy to her.
During her school years she had the good fortune to keep developing that artistic side quite naturally — starting to give shape to what she had until then only coloured in. That's also where her involvement in a City of Milan initiative, «Coloriamo gli autobus di Milano» («Let's colour Milan's buses»), came from. From that point on, her love and passion for art never left her.
Training
She kept deepening her knowledge, first enrolling at the Liceo Artistico and later studying Decoration at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, in Milan.
Among her milestones
- Gold-leaf execution of the ceiling of a room at the Hotel Palace, one of Milan's most prestigious hotels.
- First place in the «Salviamo l'arte» painting competition.
- Among the first thirty artists selected for the food-themed art exhibition at Padiglione Varvello 1888, on the occasion of Expo Milano.
For Mara, art is like writing the blank pages of a book. Painting means giving life to emotions and feelings through a mostly figurative style, playing black and white against bold colour in its fullest versatility. The most beautiful thing she can experience is art itself: a source of every mystery, and a mirror of her own soul.
